NoBS & SCAW 2006: Making A Difference

This month we bring you a very special Photo of the Month. Last year, thanks to NoBS, some of us have had a better than average year in sales. We worked hard, and it paid off. With the holiday season just around the corner, it is very easy to get caught up in the associated materialism. Sometimes, we forget just how lucky we are that we have the luxury of being able to buy gifts in the first place. But, it's important to stop and reflect how we can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, especially around the holiday season.

Last year, NoBS members really stepped up in the name of making a difference. Hodgy rallied NoBS members to donate money to Sleeping Children Around The World (SCAW). ( If you've never heard of SCAW click here to find out more.) Why did members decide to donate to SCAW? Because 100% of donations goes directly to buying bed kits for needy children. Members chipped in $5 or more per person and the fundraiser was an overwhelming success; over $4700 was raised to buy bed kits. The nice thing is that donors receive a picture of the child who benefited from their generosity. The children are photographed with the bed kit as well as a sign with the name of the donor. This year will provide yet another opportunity for NoBS members to make a difference in the life of a child. If you have not yet decided when, where, or if you will donate to charity, please keep the NoBS drive for SCAW in mind. Think also about how you would like to contribute. SCAW accepts donations of money as well as volunteers to help deliver the bed kits and photograph the children who receive them. Stay tuned here and on the forum for details as they become available.
