August Photo of the Month

Congratulations go to Debbie Rodgers who won the August Photo of the Month for the theme "blue". Here is what Debbie had to say about her winning image:
"The image is of a 5-month-old little boy, the reason for the close up is because mom had to hold him up and the image was going in the trash because you could see mom's hand on his left shoulder. I decided to crop in really close and see what I could get and I loved it and so did Mom who purchased a large Canvas for her wall..
It was shot with my 5D Mark II with my 70-200 lens at a 135 focal length, 4.5 Apt, 125 ISO, 125 SS. Backdrop is a Silverlake mismatch and the hat is from a friend of Shelley's.."

Want to know what you could win in the next contest? Winners can pick one prize from the following: A 10x10 album from Shamrock, design house Vol. 2, a six-month pro membership with Animoto, Craig's Actions Toolkit, Craig's Beauty Bar Pro Package, Craig's Preset FX Power Pack, Mama's NuGlam Bundle, a Colorsmack from Silverlake Backgrounds, an exclusive download from Profitable Studio, and Marilyn Sholin's Painter 12 tutorial "12 for Painter 12" !

"2.5 years ago I moved back to Canada after teaching English for 15 years overseas. I started my biz but looked for part-time work to make ends meet. Needless to say those were pretty lean times and I was desperate for work. I applied for a tutoring job, and was turned down, by a private catholic school because I no longer consider myself a Catholic, despite probably having more qualifications and experience than most of their full-time staff. I could easily have lied on the application and nobody would have ever known. But I could not do that." Conundrum Continued...
"Over the last several months, I've noticed a definite drop in posting by a lot of regulars. People who used to contribute on a regular, if not daily, basis just aren't showing up any more. Why?" Read More

"So things are changing for me and this summer has been the greatest ever. I have to give a huge shout out to James and Rob. As of today. I have 40 canvases going into a hospital maternity ward. They are putting 25 20x30's in each of their rooms and 15 30x40's in their hall ways. I will be getting the news paper to come in and do a story on this. But already the results are astounding. "So an old college friend of mine called this week for pictures. He is a celebrity. Won a pretty big nation wide reality TV show a year or 2 ago (I'll disclose name and details later). .. What do you think? Worth the publicity to shoot a big name for free? Or treat it just like any other job and charge like normal?" Free?
