Get Certified With Sandy
Celebrated photographer and NoBS member Sandy Puc' has begun what can only be described as the undertaking of the century. She has pledged to help get 1,000 photographers certified. Here in her own words Sandy tells us why she decided to do this:
Hi Everyone,
I did want to jump in and let you know why I created the CWSP program. When I started my 2010 tour, I asked each city how many people were certified. I assumed that it would be at least 1/2 the audience. I was shocked that in rooms of 200 people there were never more than 2 or 3 often times not even one.
After about the 4th show, I realized that our industry is hurting not because there are to many photographers, but because photographers were not talking the time to educate themselves and understand all aspects of photography. This is the disease that is killing our industry. New photographers who don't understand how to price, package, deliver, create and design portraiture are really affecting our jobs. This is my only livelihood. I have been a photographer for 23 year and I want to be one for 23 more. I knew that I had to do something and not just sit and watch this happen.
One night during one of the tour shows, I made a promise to the audience that I would help 1000 photographers learn and study for the test. I also committed to taking it again (even though I do not need to) I figured if we did it together, and enough of us did it, the energy we put into it would start a chain reaction. If we can certify 1000 and they inspire 2 friends each to do the same, over time we can change the whole industry. We CAN do this, one test, one person, and one goal at a time.
This is truly a labor of love for me. I want to really help people change their lives and I am so honored that you have joined our efforts to see this happen. You see, I know that you will all feel a tremendous amount of pride when you pass the test. I know this, because I have been there. Now, imagine taking that pride and magnify it by 1000 and the possibilities are endless. We will create an energy that will carve a path for future photographers long after we are gone.
Someone mention that "Free" is too good to be true. That is not correct. I have offered this site and all of the education I can cram in for free. The test is a goal and a sacrifice that you will need to make on your own. My opinion is regardless of taking the test or not, you should study, learn and grow with us. I do really hope you will be one of the 1000 that pass the test, but even if you just educate yourself for a year you will have contributed to the energy it will take to keep this industry strong.
I say this every night on tour but I want you to remember it.
