NoBS Member/Photo of the Month: Debbie Rodgers

Debbie Rodgers (aka Ashdownlea) is this month's NoBS Member of the Month as well as the winner of the Photo of the Month.
How did Debbie get involved in the photography business? "Well, like everyone I am sure. I have always loved taking photos as I was growing up and everyone told me I had a knack and that is sooooo boring I know..lol..
But around 2002 I met a friend through my then 10 yr. old daughter and as we talked we both discovered that we had this inner desire to create beautiful Portraits. Of course my idea of creating a beautiful portrait was taking my then 18 month old daughter and plopping her on a table with some table lamps for lights and a blanket for a backdrop and snapping away with my old school film camera. I thought "This is so easy" Ha..lol Little did I know how hard it really was to learn all the basics! I look back on those photos that I though were the "Bomb" and just chuckle at myself.
Anyways, my friend and I decided that I would buy a Canon Rebel and a couple of lens and we would set out on our merry way. We found NOBS and were instantly addicted. We did plenty of freebies and a few paid gigs until we eventually parted ways after about 2 yrs. I went on to open "Ashdown Studios" and have continued my education thru NOBS, Team Steve, Inferno, Mike Long and Andy Armstrong Workshops and very importantly our Northwest get together s with fellow NOBS'rs, Melissa, James, Denise, Amie, Ruth and even Danny a couple of times.
I have grown sooooo much in these past 4 yrs on my own and I continue to grow each year, which just makes me so happy that people out there love my work, it's the best feeling knowing that.
I love my "job" so much and I know how incredibly lucky I am to be able to have the best job in the whole world... "
Photo of the Month

"Sydney is around 7 days old, I used a "garage sale" find gold chair and a brown blanket. I laid Sydney on the blanket with her bummy to the back of the chair, using the back of the chair as a backdrop. I shot at 2.8 to throw everything but her face area out of focus. Softbox camera right at 2.8 and a reflector Camera left. "
