Photo of the Month by Jaco Fourie

I always wanted to have an image like this. At this particular wedding I saw my opportunity to make this image a reality. I gathered a lot of candles from the tables at the venue and placed them on one table. Then I placed the groom at the edge of the table and asked all his friends to come join him. They all had cigars or cigarettes and I asked them to bring their drinks as well. I stood at the other end of the table with my Nikon D200 on a tripod. I had the lens at F2.8 the ISO was 1000 and the exposure was on aperture priority. I did do a custom white balance as I saw the candles made the image very yellow. Then I stood their while the boys had fun making jokes and enjoying them self’s while was fire the shutter. One of the boys asked me when am I taking the photo as he was expecting a flash to go off. I did very little in post production. I checked the levels a bit and converted it to black and white. It was a simple as that.
I have said this before and I will say it again. If it was not for NOBS we, “J & D”, would not have been on the level we are today. Obviously, it is hard work on our side but the information you get on this forum is so valuable. The sharing of ideas and methods makes NOBS the best place to learn. We have gained so much from NOBS that I feel honored that this image was selected as image of the month and that I can give back something to this wonderful place called NOBS. Long live NOBS and may it go from strength to strength.
Thank you
